Why a swivel base earns its keep
A chair that turns solves a problem specific to modern open plan rooms: the seating has to face two directions, a television and a view, or a room and a conversation. Moving a heavy armchair each time is not something anyone does twice, so a swivel base gets used every day.
Stanford Bridge is the lightest version, a shell described by the factory as enveloping like a dress, on a slender structure. It works at a desk as easily as beside a sofa, and it is the one to choose if the chair has to move between rooms.
The armchair from 2019 is the balanced version: contemporary lines, enough padding for an evening, and a metal base that keeps it visually light despite the volume above.
Stanford Lounge rounds the lines and raises the back, so the head is supported. In a bedroom or a study corner that is the version people keep, and the swivel matters there too, because a reading chair that can turn toward the window in the morning and away from it at night is a better chair.
