What this site is, and what it is not
We quote Poliform furniture for buyers in the United States. This is not the factory site and not a shop: nothing here is sold from stock, and no price is published, because a Poliform price only exists once the configuration does.

Poliform is a furniture company from Inverigo, in the Brianza district north of Milan. It builds seating, tables, chairs, beds and wardrobe systems, and it sells them through dealers rather than directly. We are one of the people who put those quotes together, working from the factory catalog for the American market.
That independence is worth stating plainly, because it changes what we can do. We can compare two collections without preferring the more expensive one, we can tell you when a cheaper family does the same job, and we can say when the piece you want is not the right one for the room. A factory showroom is not paid to do any of that.
What we cannot do is invent a price. Every number we give comes from the current factory list for the configuration you describe, plus shipping and duty, and it comes in writing so you can hold us to it.
How a request becomes a quote
You write, with as much or as little as you have: a collection name, a photograph of the room, a floor plan, or one line saying you need a sofa about nine feet wide. Nothing is required except a working email.
We answer within one business day, Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00 Eastern time. The first answer is either a written quote or the two or three questions needed to make one, usually about size, cover grade and finish.
When the quote is right, the order goes to the factory. Poliform builds to order, so the lead time is real production time, not a shipping estimate, and it changes with the season and the piece. We give the current figure at the time of the quote rather than a number from a brochure.
Delivery to a United States address, customs clearance and the fitting of systems are quoted as separate lines, so you can see what is furniture and what is logistics.
What importing from Italy involves
Furniture from the European Union carries duty on entry to the United States, and the rate depends on what the piece is made of rather than on what it is called. Upholstered seating, wooden case goods and stone tops are not treated the same way, which is why a marble table and a wooden one of the same size land at different totals.
Upholstered pieces sold in the United States carry a flammability label, and wooden pieces carry a declaration covering the timber in them. Composite panels have their own formaldehyde rule. Poliform builds to these requirements for the American market, and the paperwork travels with the shipment.
None of this is a reason to avoid importing, and all of it is a reason not to trust a round number found online. We put the duty and the compliance cost in the quote as their own lines, at the rate in force on the day, rather than burying them in the price of the sofa.
Rates change. A quote from six months ago is a historical document, not an offer.
What the number is made of
A Poliform quote is a stack, not a single figure. The furniture is the largest band and the one people expect; the rest is what turns a price in Italy into furniture standing in your room.
We show every band separately. A quote that hides shipping and duty inside the price of the sofa is easier to read and impossible to check.
