A thin top, held lightly

Everything in this family is drawn around a thin top. The coffee tables come in wood, marble and lacquer in gloss or matt, in two heights and several shapes, and the thinness is what keeps a group of them from crowding the floor in front of a sofa. Two low tables of different shapes read as an arrangement; one large one reads as a slab.

The sofa is built for the two ways a living room is used through a day: upright for conversation and low for relaxing. Modules make the difference, and in most American rooms the deciding factor is whether the sofa has to face a television or a view, because that sets the depth you want.

The console was drawn for the back of a sofa, which is its most useful position in an open plan room: it finishes the seating, holds lamps, and marks where the living area ends and the circulation begins. It also works on its own in a hall, which is how half of them are ordered.

The dining table from 2019 is the same idea at eating height. Buying the table and the coffee tables together is the point of the family, and it is one of the few cases where matching does not read as a suite from a showroom.
